Aims and scope
British Journal of Sports Medicine (BJSM) is a multi-media portal that provides original research, reviews and debate relating to clinically-relevant aspects of sport and exercise medicine, including physiotherapy, physical therapy and rehabilitation. We contribute to innovation (research), education (teaching and learning) and knowledge translation (implementing research into practice and policy). Our web, print, video and audio material, combined with active social media, serves the international community of clinicians who treat active people.
Plan S compliance
Injury Prevention and Health ProtectionInjury Prevention and Health Protection (IPHP) is an extra edition of the BJSM sponsored and edited by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The IOC Medical and Scientific Commission are responsible for the editing of four extra issues of the BJSM each year. These four issues are dedicated to Injury Prevention & Health Protection from elite sports to the recreational level, and are the official scientific forum of the IOC for the publication of medical research conducted at the Olympic Games, the Youth Olympic Games, and as a result of IOC consensus meetings and projects conducted at the IOC Research Centres.
BJSM has a wealth of educational material available on its Education page, including videos, toolkits, ECG interpretations, and interactive BMJ Learning modules.
BJSM, published semi-monthly and co-owned with the British Association of Sport and Exercise Medicine, is a membership benefit for 25 leading international sports medicine and physiotherapy organisations who have over 10,000 members. The impact that academic research has cannot be defined by one single metric. In 2013, BMJ signed the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA). We did this to show our support for using multiple measures and metrics to portray journals’ impact; moving away from the Impact Factor as a single measure. How we get these metrics
